Connect Kryptos to ChatGPT
The Kryptos plugin brings your crypto portfolio, transaction history, tax figures and accounting ledger into ChatGPT. Install it once, choose the workspace ChatGPT may use, and ask questions in plain English. The answers come straight from your Kryptos data.
No tool can send, swap, withdraw, deposit or trade any asset. You sign in to Kryptos with OAuth, and Kryptos never asks for exchange API keys or wallet private keys in the conversation.
Watch the walkthrough
Before you start
- A Kryptos workspace on a paid plan: a Pro membership or a paid Enterprise subscription. Free accounts, the 14-day Enterprise trial and one-off tax-year reports don't qualify.
- A ChatGPT account
Set it up in 7 steps
1. Open Plugins
In the ChatGPT sidebar, click Plugins.
2. Search for Kryptos
Type Kryptos into the plugin search and open the result Kryptos — By Kryptos · Crypto portfolio, tax & books.
3. Install the plugin
On the Kryptos plugin page, click Install plugin. A Kryptos sign-in page opens.
4. Choose your workspace
Sign in to Kryptos as you normally would, then pick the workspace ChatGPT can use. Choose one on a Pro or paid Enterprise plan, because that is the workspace the plan is checked against. The plugin reads and changes data only in the workspace you choose here.
5. Review access, then Authorize
Check the requested permissions (see What ChatGPT can access) and click Authorize.
6. Click Try now
Back in ChatGPT you'll see Plugin installed. Click Try now.
7. Ask about your portfolio
ChatGPT starts a new chat with a prompt already tagged @Kryptos. Hit send:
@Kryptos What is my crypto portfolio worth right now?
You're connected. ChatGPT answers with your holdings, cost basis and gains, straight from your Kryptos workspace.
Things to ask
Start any message with @Kryptos to route it to your Kryptos data:
- Portfolio — "What is my crypto portfolio worth right now?"
- Transactions — "Show me every swap I did in January" (search by asset, wallet, label or date)
- DeFi and NFTs — "Where am I staked, and how much am I earning?"
- Data quality — "Which of my transactions are missing prices or purchase history?"
- Fixes — "Recategorize all my Uniswap swaps as DeFi Swap" or "Add a manual BTC purchase from January 2024"
- Tax — "Summarise my realised gains and income for last tax year"
- Accounting — "Categorize my transactions and push the journals to Xero" (QuickBooks and SoftLedger work too)
What ChatGPT can access
On the Authorize screen (step 5) Kryptos lists every permission the plugin asks for. Apart from your email address, they cover only the workspace you chose in step 4.
| Area | View | Change |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Your verified email address | — |
| Accounting | Accounting data and ledger entries | Create or modify accounting data and ledger entries |
| Contacts | Saved contacts and address book | Create, modify or delete contacts |
| Integrations | Integrations linked to your account | Connect, manage and modify integrations |
| Portfolios | Portfolios, holdings and balances | Create, modify or delete portfolios, holdings and balances |
| Reports | Generated reports | Create, modify or delete reports |
| Tax | Tax calculations and reports | Modify tax calculations and settings |
| Transactions | Complete transaction history | Create, update or delete transaction history |
| Workspace | Workspace settings and information | Manage users; modify workspace settings |
"Change" means records inside Kryptos, such as a label, a price or a manual trade. It never means moving assets on an exchange or a blockchain.
Troubleshooting
"MCP access requires a Kryptos Pro membership or a paid Enterprise plan"
- The workspace you picked in step 4 isn't on a paid plan. Upgrade it, or remove the plugin and install it again, choosing a workspace on Pro or a paid Enterprise plan.
Kryptos doesn't answer, or ChatGPT answers without your data
- Start the message with @Kryptos so ChatGPT uses the plugin.
- Open Plugins in ChatGPT and check that Kryptos shows as installed.
A figure looks wrong
- The plugin reports what is in your workspace, so the same figure shows in the Kryptos app. Ask "@Kryptos Which of my transactions are missing prices or purchase history?" to find the cause.
Using another AI app?
Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients connect to the same Kryptos MCP server. See MCP Integration for their setup.
